Hostinger VPS

The cheapest serious VPS once you commit to a multi-year term.

Hostinger's VPS is the budget option that's almost too cheap to ignore — provided you're willing to prepay for two years. On a KVM 2 you get 8 GB of RAM for what Vultr or Linode charge for 2 GB. The catch is the price model: the headline rate only applies to a 24-month upfront payment, and renewal jumps to a "standard" tier roughly 3× higher.

For an indie project you're confident will be running in two years, the math is hard to argue with. For an experiment, pick a true monthly-billed host instead and avoid the prepay trap.

Pros & cons

What works
  • + Headline prices below $5/mo for 4 GB RAM on 24-month commits
  • + AI-driven setup wizard installs WordPress / Docker / cPanel in minutes
  • + Free domain on most plans
  • + Generous IPv6 + free weekly backup on KVM plans
What doesn't
  • Sticker price is for a 24-month prepay; month-to-month is 3–4× more
  • Renewal prices jump to "regular" rate after the intro term
  • CPU is shared and noisy-neighbour reports surface periodically
  • Account upsell flows are aggressive and confusing
